Deadline Extended to 30 April

We are pleased to inform you that the deadline for submissions of abstracts for the HaSS first year postgraduate conference has been extended to Wednesday 30 April 2014 to allow students to take advantage of the Easter break.

Presentations will be approximately 10 minutes long with 5 minutes for questions. We encourage everyone to take part in this free event. Previous participants have emphasised that it was an excellent, enjoyable opportunity to both develop their presentations skills and build academic networks.

Call for abstracts

All first year postgraduate students in HaSS are invited to attend and make a presentation on their research. This one-day conference is designed to give HaSS postgraduates from all research areas an opportunity to present and discuss their research in an informal, supportive and intellectually stimulating setting.  We encourage everyone to take part in this free event.  Previous participants have emphasised that it was an excellent, enjoyable opportunity to both develop their presentations skills and build academic networks.

Attention all first year PhD students in the HaSS Faculty.

The First Year HaSS Faculty PhD conference will be held on 19th June 2014.

Illuminating Research is an interdisciplinary conference that showcases the creativity and vision of the postgraduate community at Newcastle University.

This free event will bring exciting new ideas to the forefront, celebrating the diverse interests and vibrancy of our Humanities and Social Science researchers. We would like to hear about all your projects, from linguistics to statistics, poetry to politics.

Whether your work takes the form of more practice-based research, or written scholarship, the conference is an opportunity share your ideas within a friendly environment. Gain valuable experience in presenting and helpful feedback at this early stage of the research process, or take this chance to perform a creative piece – we welcome everyone to get involved.
