English Literature, Language and Linguistics

Our School is a lively and diverse community of more than 45 academic staff, over 700 undergraduates, and 200 postgraduates located at the heart of one of the great cities in the UK.

The Newcastle Centre for the Literary Arts is based in the School and its programme of visiting speakers (including Carol Ann Duffy, and Seamus Heaney) nourishes our creativity and love of language and ideas. The multi-School Centre for Research in Linguistics and Language Sciences (CRiLLS) makes Newcastle one of the largest concentrations of linguists in the world.
